Okay – so.. typically when I ride it’s during a lesson, show, or clinic and I’m in the saddle for an hour at the very least. Lupus runs in my family and I’ve already got symptoms of it + rheumatoid arthritis. After riding for an extended period of time, I start to have knee pain – mostly in my right knee. I’ve tried jointed stirrups and ironically they caused MORE pain than they relieved. I’ve thought about trying the Bow Balance stirrups but I’m afraid it’ll be the same thing. I have "conformational issues," as my trainer likes to put it, because I’ve got a 33" inseam but I’m only 5’4". This makes it hard for me to fit really nicely in a saddle without my leg looking too long (even if my stirrups are at the right level).
I know I have a problem of turning my toes out when I jump, so could this be part of the reason for my knee pain? Could it be the fact that my legs are so long? Does anyone else have this same problem and if so – what have you done that has actually worked?
I’ve had blood tests done every year for the Lupus. With the test – they’re looking for I think three specific things.. if you only have two out of the three, they still name your results as "negative." My Dr. has said, "It’s just a matter of time before the test comes back positive" – I don’t really know how to interpret that.. I’m assuming that one of the things they look for is possibly age related. Who knows.. and Yes, I’ve tried ace bandages, I’ve tried a knee brace – it doesn’t help. Ibuprofin sometimes works but I’m not a huge fan over taking stuff. My massage therapist has recommend Arnica – which I’ve yet to find – but otherwise I’m not on any medications other than the occasional Flexiril after a horseshow (which is when it’s the worst).
Every time I bend my right knee, it pops loudly. When I do it slowly, it sound like something it grinding up against the bone. It doesn’t hurt, but it is kind of annoying. Also, my big toes pop when I bend them. I think I have arthritis because my hands get cramps when it gets cold.
I have rheumatoid arthritis, am 26 years old and since moving to Denver have NEVER had so much pain with it! Sure there have been times my whole body would flare up and it wouldn’t be pleasant – but I am noticing more localized pain – specifically the BACK of my knees, my hips, and my shoulders – as well of course as toes and fingers. Why would it be so localized like this and what can I do?
Yes, I am overweight, but have been working on it! This month lost 16 lbs! YAY ME! I also sit long hours for work… but no more than I was before I moved here and am still doing my yoga, belly dancing and walking.
I’m 16 years old,Female.
On the day May 30, 2009 I had extreme pain in my left shoulder. I did nothing physical that day.
It was just all of a sudden. That night, any small movement i would make with my shoulder would
hurt so bad, I would scream. My shoulder was not red but it was a bit swollen. The next day the pain
wasn’t as excruciating as the night before. The pain in my shoulder lasted 3 days, it gradually went
away.
A week or so after that I woke up with stiff a very stiff body, I was stiff until an hour or two.
My hands were in pain, my knuckles were swollen, red, and tender to the touch.
Weeks after that, my feet were in pain, particularly in my heel and the knuckles of my toes.
( the pain in my heels ever since that day has never stopped hurting. In fact, its been harder to
take walks. I can no longer jump. If i try to walk in a straight line I don’t have any balance.)
All of these pains slowly are taking over me. Its difficult to do my daily activities.
Like walking, tying my hair, getting up, etc. Just your day-to-day doings.
that’s the Just of it.
Oh and this issue has been going on for 7 to 8 months now.
And when i went to the ER the doctor diagnosed me as arthritis but she said shes not too sure.
she came to that conclusion due to something in my blood (i dint know the details)
Now, I’ve researched for quite some time now and I’ve come to the conclusion that
I have Poly-articular juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Though rheumatoid arthritis seems incredibly similar to lupus…
Is it lupus or arthritis?…
Or what do you think I have?…
P.S. My face gets rashes, irritated, dry patches but as soon as I cleanse my face, it goes back
to normal.
i have JA ( juvenile arthritis ) and i recently made friends with someone and they have the same symptoms as me apart from her joints do not swell up and become warm etc. she has had tests and they came back normal, she has had xrays and physical examinations and is going for an appointment on wednesday but she has no idea what it could be.. do any of you have ideas on what it could be? arthritis is not an answer unless it could be osteoarthritis?? but it is in every joint from her toes right up to her neck… were both really confused??
Im 38 & I have joint pain in my fingers, toes, and now my left knee, as well as in the back of my neck. I have had psoriasis for about 15 yrs and everything points to psoriatic arthritis.
i have had lower back problems for about 3 years now. after a few visits to chiropractor with minimal relief i went to doctor. tests showed i have degenerative arthritis in the 2-3-4 lumbar vertabrae. i did ok for a while but now i am having a problem after standing/walking for 10-15 minutes. i hurt all across the lower back right below my waist. and at times my leg feels numb and into my toes. if i go to the doc they think i am after pain pills. i just want some relief and any help is appreciated.
I have been experiencing severe joint pain in my knees, wrists, fingers, toes, and ankles. I have been to the rheumatologist numerous times, had blood drawn 3 times. The doctor doesn’t seem to think that it is rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis. He thinks it may be psoriatic arthritis, which I don’t have psoriasis, just the genetic disposition for it. A couple people have suggested that I have my thyroid checked because joint pain can be caused by an underactive thyroid.
I am 22 years old, female, feel tired constantly, irregular menstrual periods, severe menstrual cramps, dry skin, brittle hair and nails, all of which I’ve seemed to find to be hypothyroid symptoms.
I guess what I really want to know is if anyone with hypothyroidism has experienced severe joint pain due to the hypothyroidism? Thanks!
