It seems to be most sore on the inside, to the side of the knee cap. Sometimes throbs. Feels like a really bruised muscle. Hurts to the touch. Hurts to bend it. Icing it makes it better, but can’t do that all day every day. Any ideas? Not a runner, never injured it, no idea how it got this way.

I am seeing the doctor tomorrow, but just in case he does not know and sends me for a few weeks of tests, i was wondering if anyone might have a guess, that i could suggest to the doc.

been going on for two weeks. i have Psoriatic arthritis, a type of arthritis that does not stay in one joint, but moves to other joints, and i can be pain free for months, or the pain can be no worse then when you strain a muscle. i do not believe it is Psoriatic arthritis.

knee hurts all the time, can not put weight on it, bend it, straighten it, lay down or elevate it. extreme pain when knee is at its bending limits, fully straight or fully bent.

no swelling, not warm, not painful to touch. no loss of feeling or discoloration to rest of leg.

pain is in the knee, under knee cap, not in a muscle.

pain can not be pinpointed to a part of the knee.

foot is turned about 1/4 turn out. meaning, when standing straight, both feet should be side by side and pointing straight ahead. mine, points about a 1/4 turn outward. it is the right knee, so the foot points away from my body. normally, both feet would be at "12 o’clock".. one of mine is at "12 o’clock" the other is at 2 o’clock".
i can turn it straight, with no more pain than anything else, but it does not feel normal. like when you turn your foot a 1/4 turn, you have to hold it there. if you take a step, it returns to straight, unless you hold it out.
i did not notice the 1/4 turn until yesterday, i do not believe it has been that way for two weeks, i think the foot just turned.
i realize we will hold a foot in an unnatural stance when in pain, if that feels better, but i am not holding it turned.

any guesses?

Knee Arthritis?

for the past 6 months that i can remeber my right knee has been swollen and i’ve been unable to do stranious activity and here recently it’s been hurting worse and becoming stiffer. the pain stays around the right side of my knee cap and the back where i believe the tendons are….i’m not sure what i did to cause this and im not sure if how long it has actually been…i’ve tryed aspercream and other pain relievers for joints and have also bought a knee brace hoping to cause less strain…i’ve even used ice packs to keep the swelling down but they dont work long…im 17 yrs old and i dont have insurance and recently moved out of my parents home. I’ve been tryin to drop weight hopin to help relieve some of the pain…i realize that i’m about 20 lbs over weight for my height but for my build i’m only 10…i’m not sure what else to say but…i need help. Please?

Sprained Knee? Or Arthritis.?

I have rheumitoid arthritis that runs in the family. I have been experiencing knee pain mostly centered under my knee cap and just a little off to the side. It feels like a sprain but the pain has been there for many years. My question is, could it be the rheumitoid? Or could I have strained the tendons? But I thought tendons healed after a while. Please no smart remarks or rudeness. I am just curious about it.. and yes I know GO TO THE DR. But, I would like to look some things up and have an idea of what to ask the good doc.

Knee is extremely swollen is it dangerous?

I have psoriatic arthritis and my knee is extremely swollen to the point of having no visible knee cap. The pain has also spread to the calf. Should I go have it looked at or just wait and see if the swelling goes down itself.

Do I have IT band sydrome or knee arthritis?

In 2004 I fell on my right knee and got a meniscus tear. One year later i has surgery and the doc trimmed the tear. Since then I still get a bit of stifness and locking ocassionally but not as bad as before. Now two months ago I was sleeping and I suddenly both my legs starting aching so badly. It was almost like something was attacking my legs. Both knee caps became tight at the same time and I couldn’t sleep, The next day the pain went but my left knee also started hurting (this is the good knee). Since then I have this burning sensation on the side of my knee cap(outer side) on both knees. Both knees feel weak and i always feel a burning sensation (like joints or bones are rubbing constanly), I am very worried. The doc claims I have IT band syndrome but I think it might be something else. I’ve also starting getting muscle spasms on the knees and hip area. I also must mention my hips sting as well but very little. I hope it’s not arthritis.
Update: yest the horrid burning sensation along with the muscle grinding feeling just dissappeared. I don’t know how but now I have a cold sensation in the side of my knee cap on my right now. feels icy cold and when i stand feels like there is a knot or tight muscle in my knee. when i put my ear to my knee i can hear the sound when you run a baloon. it’s weird. could it be liquid?? what is going on with my knees?
