Or should I go another route? I don’t have a job right now, and I still live with my mom. But I do plan to move out during the summer hopefully, but if I do, I think I’ll lose my insurance. I also am wanting to live with a friend, or a friend and her mother. How would that work out with the whole insurance thing? I got a million questions and don’t know where to start, lol.

I suffered a minor ACL tear of my right knee about 16 years ago. Didnt require surgery, just some PT that i slacked on. Now, anytime I do anything strenuous, such as last week’s job that involved moving heavy furniture, I find my knee swollen, and almost unable to bend it. Stairs and ramps are a killer too. I can function, and indeed do still walk and work around, but I’d like to hear some good homegrown remedies for it. I have been taking ibuprofen regularly to combat the swelling, and have been using Capazin ointment, but to no real avail. I have to be on my feet 8 hours a day at least to work, on concrete floors and ladders. Just bought some new shoes, but nothing expensive, and i am using insoles. I need some relief! Help! Thanks!

I was offered a modeling contract to do modeling in my wheelchair.
You see, I’m a girl who has Juvenile Arthritis and sometimes I am in a wheelchair.
Recently I’ve worked hard to get walking and out of the chair. In fact, I only had to use it a few times this last winter. I’m so much better now that I’m even doing some ballet. (Not en pointe, of course.)
My Arthritis moved to my wrist. I have always wanted to model, but do I really want to be known as the wheel-chair girl? I’m not even in a wheelchair anymore, and I worked so hard to get out of it. What if people don’t want me for anything else and if I get a job where I have to stand will people call me a faker who was in a wheelchair just to get work.

I’m sooo confused!
What should I do!?

Re: My question:
I know this may sound like a simple question, but the way of constructing the discussion with her is difficult – i don’t want to sound helpless, or that i am disabled in some way and thus unable to perform my duties on the job…. What should i say… er – exactly?

I was thinking of something like "request due to medical reasons", but geez that sounds severe!

Background:
I recently discovered i have arthritis (i’m 26/ F). Before this was clearly so, i started working night shift, in a job where i do a lot of typing (and yes, i’m at work now).

Symptomatic issues:
If i am up during the day i have no problems with my hands, but from about 8pm onwards my hands swell up and all my joints (but particuarly my fingers, elbows and hips) become extremely painful and I have difficulty moving them.

Treatment:
Acupuncture works wonders for me, but recently i have been unable to afford treatment. I’m now taking Voltaren (which is okay) and using the Voltaren gel.
The big thing is that i am/ used to be one of the top performers and now my productivity has dropped significantly. It’s so frustrating.

Hi

I have a dull pain in my left knee, and it sometimes buckles

I am unsure wether it was caused by shin splints (as I sometimes have a pain in my lower leg) or from my job which is very labour intensive and often involves working in the cold kneeling down. Or is it early signs of arthritis?

Other than the pain, the problem is I love my job, and I want to keep working in it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to support my knee and protect it from the cold so it doesn’t get worse and I can keep working?

Also I have an irrational fear of the doctors, so I won’t be going to them for my knee.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! thank you!
