My feet have grow about 1/2 in and my knees have been really painful on and off. I’m 19 and don’t have arthritis or exercise excessively.

My mom was advised by her doctor to have knee replacement surgery due to her arthritis. However, since she’s diabetic, he also advised that she lose 30-50 pounds prior to surgery. Her diet is fine, but she really needs to incorporate more exercise to help get the weight off. Besides water aerobics, what are some low impact exercises she can do that would put pressure and strain on her knees? Thanks.

Does this sound like a tendon problem in my dog?

I have a 2 year very active male blue heeler. He shows signs of what lameness kind of like "walking on eggshells," on days of exercise. Sometimes even days when he hasn’t been. At first I thought it was juvenile arthritis, but he doesn’t show any more stiffness in the mornings unlike our other dog we had who had arthritis. In fact, he seems better in the mornings.

He is very uncomfortable with us touching right behind where the ends of his pads of his front feet are. If you look at http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8d/Paw_and_pads.jpg/250px-Paw_and_pads.jpg
Between the hair area of C and E is where is pain appears to be. He shows no discomfort around his joints at all. Sometimes there is minor swelling, but nothing excessive.

He’s the kind of dog who jumps 5 feet in the air all 4 feet off the ground.(I’m not exaggerating here.) I am wondering if he has pulled his tendons, and they haven’t had recovery time.
Oh, and he was on shark cartilage/msm for a month, and I saw no improvement. This is why I am thinking this isn’t arthritis.

I’m thinking he pulled something and he hasn’t had the time to recover. It hasn’t gotten better, so hes going to the vet Monday.

Insomnia during pregnancy?

I am 34 weeks pregnant and I can’t sleep! I haven’t been able to sleep for about 2 weeks. I’ve tried taking warm baths, drinking milk, getting massages from my hunny … and nothing works. I feel like my rhythm is off and I can’t change it. For example, I was finally able to go to sleep about 5:30 this morning, and I slept until about 9 am. You would think I would be more than ready to go back to sleep, but I can’t. I get some exercise but my knees are SO swollen (I’ve had juvenile arthritis since I was 13 years old). I used sleep aids about 2 years ago when I was adjusting from 3rd shift to 1st, and I didn’t like the way that they made me feel. Is there anything that might help that I’ve missed?

Does this sound like a case of Juvenile Arthritis?

For the past couple months, I’ve experienced increasingly painful days. My knees swell up after exercise, and it hurts to walk up and down stairs even if I hadn’t yet ran around. My wrists, elbows, and shoulders occasionally become warmish feeling, and range from irritating to holding-painful. My big toe is actually one of the worse joints affected- it hurts to move it sometimes, but it hurts to just sit around with it, too.

I’m fourteen, and I have a friend that has Juvenile Arthritis.

Is there a chance that I have it, or am I just paranoid?

exercise and arthritis in the knee?

Due to a series of knee injuries, I’m already getting arthritis in my right knee (at 31 years old!). My doc and physical therapist have both told me that the important thing to do with arthritis is to keep moving – it will get worse if you’re stationary. So I have been doing that. However, my knee hurts terribly by the time I’m finished. Is this normal for an arthritic knee, or am I overdoing it, or what? I have tried to call the doc and ask, but it takes an act of congress to get a call back. I’m still waiting, but just want to know if I should slow down on the exercise in the meantime.
I swim about once a week, but most of my exercise comes from an elliptical machine, about 30 minutes a day.

This is a friend of mine, who has always been active and likes sports, but has recently been diagnosed with arthritis in both knees. She was advised to lose weight too, so the knees would not have to work hard carrying the extra weight.
What kind of exercise would be good for someone with knee replacement?

Will you please help me?!…arthritis.?

I just came back from the doctor, and i was diagnosed with erosive juvenile arthritis…im 16 years old and before i went to the doctor i was on a diet and was on a roll and everything…i was exercising intensely…basically i was doing great. lost 2 pounds..but now the doctor told me NO exercising. because i have arthritis in my knee. is their any way of losing weight without exercise? right now i feel crushed, i need to lose at least 15 pounds is it even possible to lose weight without exercise?? and if their is what is it?..help?

would those elasticated knee tube things help by supporting the joint and keeping it warm or would they actually be a problem by restricting circulation and reducing the amount of exercise the muscles get?
