Arthritis Causes, Symptoms and Relief
My mom has arthritis in the knee, and she seeks advice. Should she take cortisone injections or undergo surgery? Or neither?
I am about to undergo it in about one month. I have a lot of arthritis in one knee and the pain is realoy bad. I have cortisone injections but due to prior surgery the scar tissue build up has made the injections difficult to adminster. I just want to live pain free and be able to excersise to lose wieght and feel better. Will the surgery enable me to do that?
I have arthritis in both knees, ankles, wrists & elbows. After a year of pain, I finally decided to try cortisone injections in my knees. I am wondering how long they will last.
I am asking on behalf of my mother who has had osteoarthritis in her hands for over thirty years (thumb joint area) and has tried many and varied forms of treatment including most recently a hydro cortisone injection and all to no avail.
I was wondering if there is anyone who has or who knows of anyone with a similar condition who has found anything which has produced positive results. She is in Scotland so perhaps certain treatments may not be accessible although perhaps online purchasing can be enquired into.
Any feedback would be appreciated
Thanks.
THIS IS LONG BUT I REALLY NEED HELP W. HER!
so my 14 y. old thoroughbred/ percheron mutt (i call her a mutt lol) has had arthritis since she was a foal because of an accident. i wanted to ride her last year but i couldnt because she tore her left deep flexer and we where gona try her for this season but she’s still lame on that knee. (it is defiantly that knee) and we where going to cortisone her knee. but i dont want to hurt her because i would be jumping like 2"ft. i dont want her to be hurt in the long run. she really hasnt had any training except me riding her (im 13) for the past year and a half. she’s pretty fresh but she’s a gorgeous mover on the flats (thats out of the question for me to show in) i’ve showed her once. we got champion 2nd in the eq (it was a tie but i got second because she was having problems getting her right lead so i had to bend her a lot and we didnt get it the first time but did when we tried right after.) 1st in pleasure (thats judged on her) and 1st in the command, they saw we weren’t getting the right lead so they asked us to get the WRONG lead to the right so i was all excited b.c we won that class and thats my hard one. lol im telling storys sorry. but do you think it’s worth it to cortisone her i dont want her to be hurt in the long run. a vet who specialize in lamness is gona do xrays but what do you think? thanks (and thanks for reading all this lol)

I’ve had a total of six shoulder surgeries, frozen shoulder, capsular release, capsulotomy, rotator cuff reapir etc! Been under treatment for a long time for the different scenarios! The arthritis i found out about after one of my surgeries! Dealing with pain on a daily basis! Feeling kind of frustrated! Dr. gave a cortisone shot into the joint yesterday and told me to call him in a month to let him know it worked or not! If it doesn’t work he’s going to refer me to another specialist so he can try something different!
I ‘m talking about the new treatment which is not Cortisone but some chicken byproduct series of three shots every 9 Months or so for pain!
I just had a cortisone injection today in my hip joint. I am only 25yrs old and have had a serious of hip surgeries. Turns out I could have arthritis already at my age. Has anyone had a cortisone injection in the hip to help with arhritis? Did it work? How long after the injection did it take to get pain relief? And how long did the shot last for? A few weeks? Months? Any help would truly be appreciated!!! Thanks!!!
I think it is some kind of arthritis. When I put Tiger Balm cream on the knuckle area it does give me relief until it gets washed off. The pain is awful. The cortisone shot was in the arm – took about one week to kick in and didn’t last very long. Do not want to start down that road. Is there anything like oral meds that anyone recommends that really give relief. Thanks.
