   Hi

   Depends on what you’ve already tried.
   Painkillers sometimes help – and anti-inflammatory tablets are good for some people but can cause troublesome side effects.

   Injections can give lasting pain relief in quite a few patients but it depends if the arthritis is severe or not. Some doctors are using hyaluronic acid as an injection to arthritic shoulders and seem to be getting good results. Other names for hyaluronic acid are Hyalgan or Synvisc – you might want to search the web using those words for more information.

   Shoulder joint replacement surgery is becoming more common and now has a good success rate.

   Physiotherapy and osteopath treatments can also help with pain relief – as can acupuncture and TENS machines.
