my mother has arthritis in her knee real bad. She is in alot of pain. The doc said there is no cure for that.?
Does anyone know of anything to make the pain go away. She does not have insurance either, so meds are getting to expensive. They said she may need surgery but it will be way to expensive and she does not wanna be in debt like that. Does anyone know what type of insurance she can get to help her out with this problem? And does anyone know of any tricks that may help with the pain she is having? She is not old enough to get help from the state yet. I think you have to be 60 something. Please help I feel bad for my mother

I don’t think there is a ‘cure", but she can take medication the dr prescribes to help her deal with the pain.. Have you ever heard of hemmitite? Maybe spelled wrong.. It is jewelry worn to help ease pain.. Maybe try that.. Good luck
I have arthritis in my knee.
I take aspirin, 3 tabs 3 times a day. This may not be appropriate for your mom if she has kidney problems, stomach ulcers, or if she has bleeding problems.
In addition, there are exercises to help with strengthening the muscles around the knee. When she is sitting, she should slowly raise and lower her leg numerous times.
Does she work? She might want to get a job just so she can have insurance so she can get her knee fixed.
You can call your state health department to see if there is something that can be done for her (if she can’t work because of this, perhaps she could get disability). If there is a teaching hospital in your area, you might call there to see if they have programs for indigent people.
Good luck, and I hope your mom gets better.
My pain used to be severe from arthritis. I used to take medication for the pain that was removed from the market. My doctor suggested glucosomine with MSM and chonditrin (I hope I spelled those right) and weight lifting. I had always exercised, but rarely lifted weights. I have been taking the above supplements for about 6 years now along with weight lifting 3 times a week. I rarely have pain now except when there is extreme moisture in the air and even then I can manage that pain with a little aspirin.
Go to a health store or the vitamin section at walgreens and buy a bottle of glucosamine chondroitin. its supposed to help joints and can make some of the arthritis pain go away. Also take Tylonel Extra strength. Two with the first dose then 1 every four hours.
This will not cure your mothers arthritis pain but can help significantly
It is true that arthritis has no cure. It’s more of management of the condition. Since you say you have financial difficulties, there are some little things you can do for your mother. Ask her not to bathe in cold/cool water. Warm – more to the hot temperature is always better for people with arthritis. Even washing hands. And you can get Glucosamine Sulphate from the pharmacy. It comes in tablets, capsules. It helps a lot for arthritis. It is not a medication. It is supplement. Pain @ the knees are terrible. Trust me, i am one of them. Glucosamine helps in the production of synovial fluid to increase. Synovial fluid is what we have in between our bone joints. Thus, the bone joints don’t rub against each other, causing friction and give pain to the person. Sometimes you can hear ‘crack’ sounds when they squat or bending their knees. But you must continue.taking it. It’s simple. You’ve got to take it 30mins before your meal and depending on the dosage and strength. Exercise. I am not talking about going to the gym or anything vigorous. I haven’t forgotten we are talking about your mother here. Ask her to do simple exercises. Just by slowly lifting up her legs up & down is considered an exercise. Ask her not walk much if possible. In other words, don’t over stress her knees in this condition. She can try wearing a knee gut. But she may feel pain if she suddenly remove it and start walking.. SLOW is the key word here. If your mother is obese, it will be advisable to lose some weight. Becoz her body weight will be heavier and difficult on her knees. Ask her to drink milk. No matter what your age is, your bones still need calcium to survive. Unless if these didn’t help your mother, then surgery will be the last resort. They will probably suggest a total knee replacement. The cost for after surgery is much higher becoz, she will have to go rehabilitation. Watch out for swelling or inflammation @ the knees. Hope this information helps you and your mother, Take care of her.
