My nephew suffered with pain similar to that and wound up with a tumor in his knee called osteo Sarcoma. an mri should have shown that though.

ask your Doctor about an EMG. My leg has bothered me for about 8 months and I kept thinking it was muscle. They did the EMG last week and I have damage in the spine pinching a nerve that makes my leg hurt. Going for treatment on the 16th.

Oh...you could have a torn meniscus. I had one when I was a teen., not sure how it happened. The only way you will get a clear answer is to talk to a an ortho specialist (you probably have already) and see if they will do a contrast (IVP dye) Xray.

It's not pleasant but it does answer questions. They do this by injecting a contrast dye in you knee joint and this lets them see if their is something wrong with your cartilage and stuff.

Other then that there is arthroscopic surgery, where they make3 small incisions around the knee and one has a light go in it, one has a camera so they can see the inside and one is for whatever tool they need. You are normally up and around within hours of this, Some people opt to be put under for it and some take a spinal block..I was put out..

Hope this helps

Have you had someone check your posture, and the way you naturally stand and walk? Could be an alignment problem even in your lower back or hips that affect the way you hold your torso up. Your knees are a big time stabilizer since they take the brunt of force when you stand or walk.

I've had intense knee surgery before, and my best advice to you is find another doctor and get another opinion. If you know something is bothering you, you should make sure someone addresses it before it gets worse (my mistake).
Also sometimes MRI's are read wrong. My mother recently had surgery as well, and she had a severly damaged meniscus that the doctor had missed on the MRI, but found when they finally cut her open.
Good luck to you!
