Any foods or supplements would be appreciated. I know about fish oil, vitamin c and nightshades already.

Most common knee arthritis problems are actually degenerative joint disease and not rheumatoid arthritis. The difference as the first to be a breakdown or wearing out of the cartilage in the joint as compared to an inflammatory process causing scar tissue.
Glucosamine and Chondroitin will help give you the building blocks to make new cartilage. It does not work if the cartilage is already destroyed. If you do not get any benefits after 3 months of use you will not get any from using it longer.
The best thing you can do is to lose the weight. The heavier you are the more force involved grinding the bones together, the more pain. Even surgical replacement is short lived if the person is obese. Many times a surgeon will refuse to do surgery unless the person reduces their weight enough to not make the new device fail prematurely.
If you want to exercise but reduce the impact on the knee, try swimming. There is less weight on the knee in the water and you lose calories easier because all of your muscles get a workout plus you lose heat to the water.
The main thing is to avoid damaging the knees by being overweight and by safe exercise to strengthen the muscles that help support the knee. There are no foods or supplements .
Yes, glucosamine and chondroitin have been recommended for years, but the evidence for their effectiveness is quite weak. They certainly have no effect on pain, or any improvement once you already have arthritis. There is not much good evidence to show they may prevent or delay arthritis.
I read shark cartilage does wonders for arthritis. I have 2 bottles but don’t use or kneed them. you may have them fer free if ya’s wants.
just give mah a holler and thar yers.
Unfortunately I think SkepDoc is right on this one, as usual.
I took Glucosamine/Condroitin for years. It really made no difference.
You can try an anti-inflammatory diet such as recommended by Dr. Weil. But I believe some of us are just unlucky in the DNA we get from our parents, and are going to have osteoarthritis no matter what we try.
I’m thin, always have been, and have never "abused" my joints with high impact exercise. And at 52, there is always a small degree of pain somewhere.
Though you may not want to do what it really takes to reverse this, I think becoming a vegan or at least a vegetarian using mainly raw foods would be your best bet of healing it.
When people gave up animal products for other reasons, they reported their arthritis greatly reducing or leaving and arthritis is notoriously hard to reverse even naturally.
Here are some testimonies on the healing of arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis

The book with more on what foods are raw and how much you need to eat of them etc is called the hallelujah diet
Also one could follow the principles in Gabriel Cousens books from the tree of life
like this one

also might want to take Glucosamine / Chondroitin but I am sure you know about those.
I would also try magnelyfe magnets for pain..they always worked for me with any pain dramatically..these are the ones I use but beware the tape that comes with it now falls off so use a better tape. I even used waterproof tape with better results and lost them less

also people have reported dramatic results for knee pain using Hyaluronic acid injections or supplements. This is found in both a root veggie in Asian and in rooster combs
For help from one who cured all types of incurable diseases, go here (first link) to the chapter on arthritis which is the part one of the save your life manual page 184 on.

Arthritis is hard to heal but it can be done using these programs and suggestions and doing the incurables program till healed followed by a whole foods, mainly raw food vegan diet. this will also have a myriad of other health benefits.
I, myself, started the incurables today and juice fasting for diabetes and became a vegan recently working on getting lots of raw foods. Going vegan is less hard I feel than going raw as so many foods even if not cooked have been heated in processing even health food store products.
One must get away looking at herbs and supplements as one does a pill that cures you. For the bad stuff, one generally needs a lifestyle change and a comprehensive program such as the incurables entails.
My mom took motrin for arthritis and these NSAIDS are a bad idea. From it she got kidney damage and needed to go on dialysis and this increases ones chance of heart attacks 30 times.
She went from no heart problem in her 70 years to 9 heart attacks in one year the last killing her with many sufferings along the way caused by dialysis and exacerbated by the poor diet they force you to go on to help the technicians administer the dialysis easier.
Be very cautious taking these anti-inflammatory drugs which many links says are harmful. My mom regretted taking them when she saw what they did to her down the road. trust me going vegan, raw or doing the incurables beats what she went through any day..she suffered badly in those two years on dialysis and from more than just the heart attacks.
focusing on eliminating processed sugar and high sugar foods in your diet will reduce inflammatory pain such as arthritis dramatically….. so yeah… ditch processed sugar and sugary foods like fruit and potatoes and see if your symptoms abate any.
bet they do.
eat more alkalising foods like salads and green and leafy vegies…….. ;0)
wheat may also be antagonising and promoting inflammation in your system.
