MMR Vaccine help?? Should I get it,or not?
On the information leaflet it says you should delay/not get it if you have a low immune system,or a disease which affects the immune system. And if you have gotten it twice before,it’s still advised to get it again.
But I’m in a predicament…..I have Juvenile Arthritis,a type of Rheumatoid, and this causes me to have a very low immune system, and the meds I’m on affects my immune system also. Because of this,I pick up things realli easily. I’ve had the vaccine twice already, but I was talking to someone who’s nephew got the vaccine twice and he still got a severe case of the mumps.
Any doctors/nurses/medical people out there?? Or anyone who could help?? What do ye think I should do?? Should I get the vaccine, regardless of my comprimised immune system??
I don’t want to get the mumps…..I get realli sick with a cold or the ‘flu,I’ve had the ‘flu for the past 3 weeks,on my second course of antibiotics and it has now developed into a chest infection…..
Thanks in advance
Yeah…..I did get it twice as I mentioned in my question,if you actually read it…..and people ask lots of random questions in the Ireland section, what does this have to do with travel in Ireland:

Yeah. Not much.
And I was just looking for help, thank you very much. Obviously you think I’m THICK enough to say ‘Oh,I’m gonna do exactly what such and such a person said’ I just wanted opinions…..

The MMR vaccine often causes arthritis in females who are past puberty . It would be a shame for you to get a different kind of arthritis in addition to JRA, or to increase your existing symptoms.

Read the package insert I linked to above. You won’t believe your eyes when you read that the vaccine manufacturer admits what I have told you.
What does this have to do with travel in Ireland????
Didn’t you get your MMR at about your first birthday? That’s when they give it to almost all children.
And, isn’t this something you should be discussing with your physician, rather than asking a bunch of strangers whose backgrounds you know nothing about?
To be honest, your best bet would be to talk to your doctor about the wisest course of action.
Everyone over the age of 15 is advised to get the vaccine if they are in secondary school or third level especially as people have missed exams etc. due to the mumps and it is also a very serious illness.
You are not advised to get it if you are already on other medication.
You should get in touch with your GP.
Im getting mine on Monday………
:(:(
If you have had 2 doses of the MMR vaccine at the appropriate times you shouldn’t need another one, who is advising you to have another dose and why?
You need to speak to you GP really not ask people on Y!A what they think you should do? I worked in a GP surgery for 15 years but I can’t tell you what to do with your health and your body. Discuss your concerns with your doctor.
I’d be surprised if a child who had the correct doses of the MMR vaccine at the correct times contracted mumps. Mumps is rare but serious notifiable disease, more dangerous for teenage boys (can cause sterility) than anyone else.
Antibiotics don’t work against the "flu" because its a viral illness so its no wonder they didn’t make you better. A chest infection will respond to antibiotics but not colds or flu. I’m surprised a GP prescribed antibiotics for the "flu" in this day and age, there are actually adverts on TV explaining that they don’t work against colds and flu.
