Do you think something is wrong with me?
Okay so every once in a while my ankle or foot will hurt for like 4 days, then its all better. Except once it got really bad and I could barely walk. But usually its just an annoying pain that hurts like hell when you press it. I think it usually happens when its cold but I can’t really remember. I don’t think its full blown arthritis because i’m only 16 but do you think it could be juvenile arthritis? I don’t know how bad that is so I can’t tell. Please help I am so scared!
P.S- Please don’t leave a rude comment or tell me 2 go see a doctor because I am going to just wanna know what you guys think 1st.

If your ankle pain happens every once in a while you have already ruled out juvenile arthritis which, by the way, is a bundle of other medical problems as well. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis usually strikes before the child is age 16. Have you ever sprained that ankle? That could have stretched or damaged the tendons/ligaments causing the pain.
Here are some questions for you to look at which may pinpoint the cause of your problem:
1) Does your shoes have a good solid cushion and arch support? You need something to act as a shock absorber to prevent foot injury.
2) Are your shoes worn and slightly turned over to the side? This can cause ankle pain.
3) Do you wear ‘flip-flop’ style shoes? They are flat with no cushion or arch support and are very bad for your feet.
I know from experience that even jogging shoes can look like they are in excellent condition and the cushion and arch support be completely worn out. They had no protection from shock to my feet and ankles.
My husband just discarded a very nice looking pair of expensive boots because the foot support was gone. He was having horrible foot and ankle pain. He is fine now since he bought new boots.
You may need to take an anti-inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen for a few days and apply warm, wet towels to your ankle to heal the pain. BEFORE you take anything for pain, be sure and check with your parents to see that it is safe for you to take. Take only what is prescribed for your age group.
it honestly sounds to me like ‘growing pains’. you’re only 16 so you’re still growing and usually when that happens you have bad pain in your ankles.
i wouldn’t worry about it =]
hi felix
Ankle or foot, where is it SPECIFICALLY?
My son complains of the same lately. Do you play sports, especially Basketball? Have you strained it lately? Def go to the Doc,he will probably take x rays or an mri to see whats going on.
If you can tolerate Advil or Motrin, take them every 4-6 hours.
Read dosing instructions for proper dosage. You can apply an ice pak, see if that helps….or a moist heating pad. You can also wrap it in an ace bandage.
And keep it elevated, propped up on a chair with pillows as your sitting at the pc.
Pain in itself is not "normal". Take into account your life style including activities, etc.. Was there any prior injury to the ankle? Do medications such as motrin help the pain when you get it? In the absence of trauma the most likely issue is strain (can be from repetitive actions) or inflammation. Definitely a good idea to have it checked out.
maybe bone spurs or shoes that offer no support
