Who else is tired of fake myspace celebrity profiles?
I am a long time myspace user and last year I was helping raise money for the arthritis foundation. I thought it would be so cool to try to get some celebrities involved. A lot of celebrities have a voice that people listen to so a lot of them get involved in all kinds of charities. I decided to go on myspace to see who I could find. To my surprise every time I keyed in a name of a celebrity, 6 to 10 pages would pop up. Then came the hard part trying to figure out of these 10 pages which profile was real and which one wasn't. I think myspace should do something about this. A lot of people are getting fooled thinking they are talking with or to their favorite celebrity when really it could be the person next store for all they know. I feel honestly that myspace is contributing to identity theft.

yeah there are so many stupid fakers on there…it's actually scary how realistic some of the pages look though. I'm a huge dougie poynter fan and he used to have an official page but he shut it down because of hackers. there's still loadsa of people pretending to be him though and they have all these pictures-including childhood photos-which makes it's look as if it really is him. I think myspace are trying to solve the problem though. I know on the mcfly page, they posted a blog warning people that there's only one official mcfly page because loads of young girls were talking to all these weird fakers…
Myspace has been trying to do something about this by deleting the fake profiles that are reported. What you should do is go to the particular famous person's offical website and usually they have a link to their myspace from their website; It's alot easier than looking through 30 pages of one person.

I really don't think myspace is a tool you should use to get celebrities involved. You can figure out which ones are real if there is a link to their website in most cases, but sometimes it may only be a fan page. Try going to an artists' website. Almost every celebrity has one and you can email them directly if they provide some sort of contact info. Good luck.
I agree with the first answer but there is a better option. If you type in the public url for the celebrity you are looking for. Like http://www.myspace.com/nicolerichie. I used her as an example because myspace took back the url when someone else had a fake page with her name.
I must say that I am too. I think Myspace is really ridiculous now especially with all the spam and the nonsense and the stealing of passwords. Its not as entertaining as it used to be.
dont think they are going to have the time, remember, for their own good, they dont do it, Im mad because of that, yeah, Im sick because I made friend of An Ashley Tisdales and she deleted it, so, yeah they are soo fake and Im sooo tired, sorry if I sound so harsh!
