My boyfriend was told he has early arthritis in his knee. He is active and 26 yrs. Should he be concerned?
He runs a few times a week and plays sports. Should he strengthen certain muscles? Stretch? Wear a brace? Can it not be reversed?
Arthritis Causes, Symptoms and Relief

He walks and runs easily but only after warming up for ten or twenty seconds during which he either uses just three legs or limps along. Jumping too is becoming difficult. He is big but slightly overweight weighing 120 lb(55Kg) and my guess is that he’s getting arthritis of his right hind hip joint which seems to be getting worse instead of better.
I am only 25, but have suffered from Psoriatic Arthritis that was debilitating. In fact, my Rheumotologist advised me not to exercise because of the stress on my joints. Now that I am on a new medication and feeling amazing I want to get on track and lose some weight. I have a two year old and thought a treadmill or stationary bike would be great. However, what about those things like the ab lounge? Do they really work? I don’t want to work out with weights because i would be doing this alone. What would be my best bet for shedding some stomach flab and getting into shape?
anything i can do to get some relief….do creams help….on pain meds but they dont seem to help much..have severe arthritis(37yr old)….from florida…not good doctor choice(scared to believe patients pain level)…and i see the best in area.
I have been struggling with arthritis of hips and wondering if anyone else has problems like this and if anything works for them such as a particular excercize, etc. My condition is very sensitive to weight, although I am not overweight by any measure, every lb. makes a huge difference. I am trying to find ways to work out and get my heart rate up in addition to biking. Any ideas? Swimming is so boring. Also, I am seeking a physician who specializes in such problems in Minneapolis area.
I’ve been tentatively diagnosed with some form of inflammatory arthritis. It started in my foot, and moved to my knee. I’ve had 2 MRIs, a bone scan, and Xrays and they are saying arthritis.
I’ve also had alot of bloodwork and everything looks normal except for my sed rate which is significantly elevated.
I am seeing a rheumatologist. At my 1st appointment she put me on 10mg of prednisone a day. She acted like I would feel a difference right away. After a week with no relief I went back to see a physician’s assistant. She doubled my dose of prednisone so now I am on 20mg a day. She said it should make me feel at least 50% better. The problem is that my knee is incredibly swollen and sore in the morning and evening. She didnt say that the prednisone would take care of all the swelling, but it sounded like it should help with the swelling and with the pain.
Its 1.5 weeks later and my knee is still huge and sore. The soreness I can deal with, aleve helps. I want a normal sized knee!
I have a few health problems that are chronic and very, very expensive. I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and I take Remicade and Methotrexate for it. If I didn’t, my body would be covered in red lesions (I’ve been covered up to 70% of my body) and I’d be walking with a cane, preparing to have hip replacement. I know I need this treatment. Remicade is EXTREMELY expensive. My doctor’s office used to let me make payments…but they’ve changed their policy and you have to pay upfront. I have insurance, but I have to pay a very large deductible. This, plus the daily meds I take for the condition, plus meds for high bp, depression, and GERD, cost a helluva lot of money.
I had bronchitis for three months starting in October of last year. Long story short, they discovered I have a slightly deviated septum and an old infection in my sinuses. I took meds, and now I’m supposed to have a second CT of the sinuses…and I know that they’re going to find that I’m no better. The next step could be surgery. I’m feeling EXTREMELY guilty about how much my problems literally cost my family. I quit smoking and started eating better…but it’s not helping any of my conditions get better. This sinus thing is not a life or death situation here, or a question of mobility like my arthritis is. I’m tempted to blow it off. Yes, I have a chronic sore throat. No, I really can’t sing anymore…but I’m not a professional, I just sing at church and civic theater. I get so worried when I think about how much all these medical things cost, and with the economy the way it is, I know we could go broke in no time. What would you do if you were me? How important is it to fix this?
I have had arthritis since i was two and now im 16. I have arthritis in every joint. My fingers are starting to bend inward and I dont want them to be like that for the rest of my life. I just started an IV treatment called Orenica(also if you know anything about that?)
I’m 16 years old and I think I have arthritis in my knee. Sometimes it hurts so bad it keeps me from going to sleep. Usually its just my left knee but my right one hurts too. My shins sometimes hurt when my knees hurt also. Is this just growing pains as they are called or arthritis?
BTW: The pain is really, really bad.
I don’t go to a gym and work out or anything like that but I am very active like I take walks and do many things around the house.
This guy is an 18m/o Border Collie, he came to me 3 weeks ago as a shelter pull. He was a stray with no known history, he had pneumonia, was 15lbs under weight and not eating, he was unable to sit and showed L Rear hip/leg swelling and pain to the touch for the first 3 days, 3 weeks later he is able to sit, run and jump on furniture comfortably. He was officially diagnosed with early stage Osteoarthritis and Osteosclerosis today. So far, I have been treating it with a good protein rich non-grain/corn diet, joint supplements (starting today), regular informal massages and a healthy weight maintenance program. My ideas so far for causes are; early prolonged nourishment, genetic/congenital, hindered circulation or auto-immune. Any details would be greatly appreciated.
