I was told i had arthritis in knee, bone spurs and extra water in my knee by my doctor. My doctor told me this at 17 and did not seem concerned at all. Pain is Very bad at time and feeling like its about to give out and have been wearing braces with hinges is there anything else i could do? Would knee replacement help?
Im not seeing anyone to help hardly any special doctors in my town and im not driving 6 hrs away to go to a better town. I was told i Had it 3 years ago and have been living with the pain. It has its good and bad days just like with anything else more so worst during winter months then summer. My doctor did not seem to care to much that a 17 year old guy has all this. I admit im pretty hard on my body. I don’t know how bad it gets over years if i should go back and talk more about it but he just told me oh your still growing it should stop i have pretty well stopped growing a lot just looking for a way out to help. I know knee surgery is a huge deal but if it fixes it so i can live happier then i would do it. My doctor has not even mention about surgery at all.

or related degenerative forms of arthritis….Is it more of an isolated disease, or–is can it affect the body in a more general way as well?
I have pain in my hips, along my spine and w/ my ankles-it feels like it’s more joint and bone related; I dont know how much of this is exasperated by worry. Im 32 yrs. old. <pardon the lack of detail, just work w/ whats on your minds folks>
-my apreciation:)))

I have a co-worker who have a really bad case of it in her hands. I, a summer intern, have been assigned to help her a lot since using her hands just aggravates the problem.
What are some ways she can help her condition? Thanks!!

For a few years now I’ve had joint pain in my legs, mainly whenever the weather makes a really drastic change or if I sit in one position too long. My aunt, a nurse, said it MIGHT be juvenile rhumatoid arthritis. Could this be true and is there anything I can do to help prevent it from getting worse?? I’m only 19 and I didn’t think arthritis usually set in until you were older and from what I hear about JRA, it sets in earlier on than mine did.

I have psoriasis and a couple years ago I was diagonosed with psoriatic arthritis, however, (knock on wood ) my hands haven’t bothered me for awhile. Anyway, my question is some of my nails have started to detach from my skin. The white part of my nails are now like halfway down my nail so there is little ‘pink’ left on my nail. My nails are only hangin on by like half the nail. I only have a few nails like this and when I accidently hit them on something it hurts so bad. I can barely knock them on something (which wouldn’t hurt my other nails) and it really hurts these nails. I have looked up images online for psoriatic nails but they don’t really look like that. My nails look healthy except for becoming increasingly white and slowly detaching. Have any of you experienced anything like this? I no longer have insurance so I cannot make it to the doctor now.

This is a friend of mine, who has always been active and likes sports, but has recently been diagnosed with arthritis in both knees. She was advised to lose weight too, so the knees would not have to work hard carrying the extra weight.
What kind of exercise would be good for someone with knee replacement?

I’m having a hard time with my ankles more than my knees. They don’t bother me unless I’m on my feet too long, then I can hardly stand; and the pain is pretty bad. What are you doing for yourself? I was taking Celebrex, but stopped because it got too expensive; now I’m taking Aleve but I think my body has become immune too it. I can’t afford to go to a doctor and I have no health insurance. Any suggestions?

My dog has been experiencing kidney failure for approximately a month and a half. While he’s been handling that fairly well, he’s seemed to develop arthritis or some sort of pain in one of his front arms, which makes it difficult to walk. The vet suggested limited amounts of Metacam, despite being potentially harmful to the Kidneys. I know in taking it, it will likely decrease his lifespan, but I don’t think he should live in this sort of pain. Until the pain issues arose, my dog still ate plenty, didn’t mind walks, and barked as much as he always did. Is the Metacam likely to drastically reduce his lifespan, or would it only slow him down a little? Is there anything else that could work in this situation, he needs some sort of moderately rapid pain relief.
And yes I know about Glucosamine, but the vet said it would take a long time so see any sort of reaction to that, and I’m not sure I want my dog to suffer that long for something we aren’t sure will work.
